Compatible or
Generic Cartridge:
Compatible or Generic
Cartridges are made by someone other than the original manufacturer. They are not
refilled or recycled cartridges but are completely new. There are many
manufacturers of these generic brands all over the world and the quality varies
greatly. We will only sell a generic brand once we are satisfied that they
produce high quality products and that they stand behind their product. Calidad
is definitely one such company and we have been very pleased with their products
for over 10 years now. There are dangers to using non genuine products. It is vitally important that you make
sure you are putting high quality generic ink into your machine. Poor quality inks will
give you blocked print heads, streaking print, print head failure, poor colour
and poor light fastness to name just a few issues. They are an extremely economical
alternative to genuine cartridges. We stock Calidad compatible cartridges for most Epson
& Canon inkjet cartridges and also Brother, Sharp and Panasonic.
Remanufactured Cartridge:
Remanufactured
Cartridges are cartridges that have been used and recycled for reuse. The
recycling process usually involves inspecting, cleaning, replacing worn or
consumable parts, refilling and then testing. We DO NOT sell remanufactured cartridges.
It has been our experience that the rate of failure is far higher than
acceptable. We only sell new original cartridges or generic cartridges and
refill kits. The draw back to this is the impact on the environment. As a
solution many of the large brand names are now implementing their own recycling
schemes as well as the big one - PLANET ARK -. Planet Ark has recycling bins all over Australia. Check out their web

OEM:
OEM is an Acronym and stands
for Original Equipment Manufacturer. An OEM producer is a company that makes
products specifically for another company like Canon, Hewlett Packard and Epson
etc to go into their equipment with their label on it. This means that a Canon
cartridge may not have been made by Canon. An Epson cartridge not have been made
by Epson etc etc etc. Many well known brands are simply rebadged products of other
companies. Strangely however OEM is now also being used by the companies that buy
the components from OEMs to put in their products and sell as finished equipment
which makes it somewhat confusing. The fear of using generic cartridges is really
baseless as a lot of the time the OEM products are made by a 3rd party
anyway. As long as you are using a high quality product there is absolutely no
reason to fear generic brands.
