Canon BJC 8200
Canon has announced the professional-quality Canon BJC-8200 colour Bubble Jet printer with new MicroFine Droplet technology for advanced photo-printing up to 1200 x 1200 dpi. Canon's latest 6-colour printer is a quiet performer incorporating a range of high-end features including individual ink tanks, new PhotoRealism (TM) inks for accurate colour reproduction and optional colour scanning up to 600 dpi. Professional 6-colour photo-printing The Canon BJC-8200 takes full advantage of MicroFine Droplet technology to produce a consistent microscopic droplet size of only four picolitres. Combined with a newly developed print head that includes 1536 star shaped nozzles for precise dot patterns, the results are reduced grain, richer tones, improved contrast and a high 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution even on plain paper. This new technology allows 1.44 million dots to be printed per square inch for unsurpassed text, line & graphics reproduction. Photo-printing with the Canon BJC-8200 is further enhanced with Canon's newly developed PhotoRealism ink - one-sixth the density of normal inks the printer layers the ink to achieve up to 33 levels of colour gradations. This technology goes beyond the traditional dot per inch measurement to deliver better results and working in unison with Canon's MicroFine technology the output is photo lab quality with virtually no grain even in highlighted areas. Versatile and cost effective studio printing The BJC-8200 offers the convenience of switching between 6-colour photo and standard 4-colour printing without needing to remove the print head. Using Canon's new BC-50 print head, which holds six separate ink tanks, users simply switch to their preference using the driver functions. Supplied as standard with the BJC-8200 the separate ink tanks are for each colour (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and provide greater economy as users only need to replace individual ink colours as they run out rather than replacing an entire cartridge. The inclusion of accurate ink level detectors also reduces wastage. Offering a dual interface for either USB connection with Windows and Macintosh PCs plus parallel connection for Windows, Canon's BJC-8200 gives users the option of sheet fed colour scanning at an optical resolution of 600 dpi. This is a simple conversion where users just remove the printers ink cartridge and click in the optional scanner cartridge. Advanced options for enhancing printed images are also available with Canon's Photo Optimiser technology and Image Optimiser. Built into the printer driver, Photo Optimiser automatically transforms highlights, contrast and colour hues for the best printed result without altering the original image file while the Image Optimiser improves the output quality of low resolution images to reduce jagged edges and faded colours. The BJC-8200 delivers special effects printing with Simulated Illustration Mode which converts images to illustrations, avoiding complicated image retouching, and Monochrome Effects which converts colour images to a variety of sepia tones. Poster printing allows users to convert an A4 image to four or nine A4 sheets that can be joined to form large posters. Delivering high-quality results the printer achieves speeds of up to 3 pages per minute (ppm) for graphics, colour and black text. The BJC-8200 has an in-built sheet feeder for media weights from 64-105 gsm. Media includes plain, transparency film, envelopes, high resolution, glossy photo paper, high gloss photo and back print film as well as T-shirt transfers and Canon's new Pro Paper (PR-101).
